Day 9: Favorite TV Shows

Day 9: Tell Us Your Favorite TV Shows

Unfortunately, I am a TV junkie. I am hoping to break that, but with the fall program coming back soon.....DVR is my friend!

DRAMA:

Private Practice - I was never a huge fan of Grey's Anatomy, so I didn't have high hopes for this spin off. But I LOVE this show. They always have interesting cases that they are working on. May not have as many cute boys as Grey's - but I still love Pete (Wings, anyone??).

Flashpoint - Stu and I are obsessed with this show. It is about a SWAT team in NYC and every episode is on-your-seat riveting. This is pretty much what we watch every Friday night. And since it is not part of the normal TV schedule, it kept us entertained all summer.

Desperate Housewives - I think most people have left this show behind (sob, this is the last season), but I am still an avid fan. I really don't think that I have missed an episode. Lynette has to be my favorite - all those kiddos!

Law and Order:SVU - I have watched Law and Order my entire life (thanks, mom) and although there are quite a few spinoffs, this is the longest running. Pretty much if a show can have interesting cases and keep it fresh, I am entertained.

SITCOMS:

Cougar Town - I wasn't that into this show at first (Monica altered her face!), but once they started naming wine glasses, they had me hooked. And Busy Phillips is hilarious on here.

Rules of Engagement - By far one of the funniest shows on TV. If you have never seen it, try it. It has Elaine's boyfriend from Seinfield, David Spade, and Kate Hudson's bro, Oliver. The women are even funnier, but not sure where they came from. And they added a random Indian guy last season that cracks me up.

Mike&Molly - Another hilarious show. Two overweight people that met at Overeaters' Anonymous and are now dating. Molly's sister and mom to me really make the show, but after seeing Bridesmaids, I am looking at Molly in a whole new light.

Modern Family - Probably the most famous out of my favorites (won a few Emmy's...). But this show rocks! I have never seen a bad episode and am enjoying the reruns this summer. Previews have it that another baby is coming this season!

REALITY TV:

Bachelor Pad - It just doesn't get any cheesier than this. And the cheesier, the better. How can you not enjoy watching these D-list celebs duke it out? Or Kasey guard and protect Vienna? Or the Princess do whatever it is she does? I love it, no matter that it lowers my IQ!

Teen Mom/16 and Pregnant - My guilty pleasure. Selfishly, I think it just makes me realize that no matter what I might have screwed up with Abby that day, there are people out there that are WAY worse than me. It is like watching a train wreck, but it also makes me feel so bad for those girls. Some of them really try only to have toxic family in their lives.

Real Housewives of New Jersey - I love shows about Italians (Stu and I spent about 2 months watching the entire seasons of The Sopranos, but I do refuse to get caught up in Jersey Shore). They are feisty, loud, and just do everything over the top. I love my weekly fix of the Theresa drama.

***********************

Well that is just to name a few of my favs. I like so many different genres. I am trying to get into HGTV, but I think they play House Hunters every night.

Any suggestions on other shows to DVR?

Taking a (Candyland) Break

I decided to take a break from the 30 Day Challenge.

1. It is about friends and I just have too many to put all of their pictures on here ;)

2. I just spent 15 minutes uploading pictures of my favorite TV shows, only to find out that is for tomorrow.

So I thought I would take a quick break and show what Abby and I did this weekend.....

Yep, played Candyland in our jammies while it rained outside.

Abby totally would have won if she went in the right direction on the board.

*********************

I talked briefly about my job, but I wanted to add that I spend the majority of my day pulling data, building processes, and helping multiple people problem solve.

But I will be darned if I am not smart enough to figure out how to change the channel on the remote. I am serious. Stu is not home and I am missing my Real World Challenge Reunion Show because I can't get the TV off HGTV. Don't get me wrong, I love some HGTV, but I really wanted to watch that other show.

Of course, Stu will be home shortly and show me in 2 seconds how to fix it.

Day 7: Favorite Vacations

Day 7: Tell Us About Your Favorite Vacation

One of my favorite places to go is Gatlinburg, TN. We went there for our Honeymoon and sadly haven't been back since!

Our last "real" vacation was to Myrtle Beach right before Stu left for Iraq. It was wonderful even though I was about 2 months pregnant and needed to sleep about 12 hours a night!

We have also been to Disney World, Washington DC, and Maryland since we have been together.

******************

Ill just post some dream vacations too...

This one is technically not a dream. I am determined to take Abby to Disney World when she is 4. So I have about 2 years to make it happen.

I have always wanted to go to NYC. Not just the nightlife NYC, but the 9/11 Memorial, the Met, and the Statue of Liberty as well.

And of course, no dream vacation would be complete without Tuscany!

Day 6: Movies

Day 6 of linking up with Katie's Journey Blog Challenge. I'm quite proud of myself for keeping up!

Day 6: Favorite Movies

I don't think it is any surprise that I like chick flicks. I hate horror movies (it has been years since I have seen one) and never watch sci-fi or fantasy. I do really enjoy most other movies like thrillers (Inception), guy movies (Ocean's Eleven) and so on. But my all time faves are of course chick movies.

But I did have to narrow it down, so here are my top 5.

Favorite Movie of All Time.

Anytime the cable goes out, I put this in. Most people either haven't seen it or didn't care for it - but I just love it. I love Diane Lane/Sandra Oh and I just think the scenery is amazing. Who wouldn't want to buy a fixer-upper in Italy and drink wine all day??

To date myself, this was actually the first PG-13 movie that I ever saw. I was 11 years old and was invited as part of a birthday party. I had to BEG my mom to let me go see it.

But she did let me and although I don't really remember watching it for the first time, I lurve this movie! Again, another movie that I could watch over and over again. Although, sadly I don't think I have a DVD copy of it, I did wear out my VHS copy (when we had a VCR).

I threw this one in here, because I don't think I have seen a movie this funny in a long time. I have only seen it once, but remember literally crying as I watched it.

And I am really excited that while I was looking for this picture, I found out it will be released Sept 20th. I rarely buy movies, but I know I will buy this one.

How can I not have a movie with Matthew M in it?!?!

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is just a classic. Luckily, TBS thinks so as well, so they play it all the time (even though we do own this one as well).

Sorry, couldn't resist the classic chick flick. But the phrase "Nobody puts Baby in the Corner" is one that I will occasionally throw out at random and I have this movie to thank for it.

Well, there is my Top 5....agree/disagree??

Have you seen Under the Tuscan Sun? Am I crazy for that being my Number One??

Day 5: Happy Picture

Day 5: Share a Picture of Something that makes you Happy!

In case you haven't picked up on it, Im a little obsessed with my daughter. But any picture that I see of her makes me happy.

And this is picture of her most recent favorite face. She scrunchies up her nose (showing off her half tooth) and just looks so darn cute!

I had a few other things, but then realized they will be highlighted in the weeks to come. Stick with me through the family part (and the grandparents do need their fix!), and I will share more about myself!!

Have a great Labor Day weekend (day off, whoo hoo!).

Day 4: Tell Us About Your Family

This is my family. I love each and every one person!

Me, my angel Abby and my hubs Stu.

They are definitely my core family and I will "mama-bear" for any of them any day of the week. I will post more about them on Day 10 (they are both my "special someone").

This is my family that I grew up with. My awesome daddy, my handsome bro, my sweet mama, and me.

We recently added this gorgeous lady to our family as well. My bro's wife, Jess!

Stuart's GIANT family. His two bro's and their girlfriends, parents, grandma, aunt and two nephews. Abby was over in the corner hiding - so dramatic!

Day 3: Tell Us About Your Job

Day 3: Tell Us About Your Job

I very rarely mention anything about work on here. There are just some things that I don't talk about.

What I will say is:

I have been with the same company over 7 years.

I work in a cubicle.

I work in spreadsheets all day.

I have had about 4 different positions with this company and my current is my favorite.

Now for my OTHER job.....

Being a Mommy is the best thing in the world. It is exhausting, frustrating, 24 hours a day, but the MOST rewarding thing in the world.

After a horrible day at work, a cranky two year wanting dinner, but not wanting to go to bed, my entire day is made when she tells me She loves me. I am so grateful that I was chosen to be her momma!

Day 2: Tell Us About Your Blog

I started this blog in June of 2008. We had just found that we were pregnant. I knew I wanted to start some sort of site to keep our family (800 miles away) informed of what was going on. I also intended for Stu to use the blog to post updates from Iraq, but that didn't work out!

Since then, I now use this blog to post multiple pictures of Abby as well as use it as to showcase things that I love (What Momma's reading, reviews of the fashion during the awards shows, just to name a few).

I was trying to think of my favorite posts and although I love them all, these two jumped out at me.

Abby's Birth/Coming Home

Stu's Homecoming/Meeting Abby

Just to answer a few questions:

What is the meaning behind your blog name?

Ha! That would be my complete lack of creativity. I was creative enough to just use our names (I was very new to the blog scene when I started it).

What is one tip that you would give a new blogger?

It sounds cliche, but write for yourself. You may have 10,000 followers or 20, but as long as you are writing about what you want, you will enjoy it. Also, just keep doing it. I love nothing more than reading back through my posts and have all the great memories that come with each story.

Day 1: Introduce Yourself

I very often get in a blogging slump, so I thought joining Katie's Journey for a 30 Day Blog Challenge might be fun!

My name is Ann and I am married to the guy that has been putting up with me for 10 years (more on him to come).

I have a beautiful daughter Abby, who will be 3 in January and brightens every day for me.

We live in TN after traveling around a bit, but ultimately moved back close to our hometown.

Since I don't want to reveal too much (I have 30 days to do so!!), I will just say that I love blogging. I am very excited to read everyone else's posts and hopefully find a few new blogs to follow!

(And for my regular followers, I will probably post twice a day if I have something interesting to share. There are a few things a changin' in the house that I am super excited about!!)
