SUYL - Singles

This week at Kelly's Korner, she is hosting Show Us Your Singles!!!

I am so excited to introduce my dear friend, Teesha. I have know Teesha, since, well seems like forever!
Teesha is 31 and lives right outside Nashville, TN. She is a beautiful, strong, loving and intelligent woman. Anyone who knows Teesha knows she is passionate and determined. She has an incredible loyalty to her friends and family.

Halloween 2012 - The "Orbitz" Gal

She loves kids and is known to many kiddos as "Aunt Teesha". (And is becoming a real aunt in a few short months!) She works in the nursery at our church every month and volunteers for many community service activities. She has an extremely strong relationship with God and loves to talk about His plan for her life and the influence He has on her.

Teesha works at an insurance company and is very dedicated to her work. She has worked in multiple departments and has a great relationship with her co-workers.
As you can see from the picture, Teesha has a great sense of fashion. Living in the great city of Nashville, Teesha is always quick to throw on a pair of cowgirl boots, ready to dance the night away. She is always dressed for the part whether it be for a night out on the town or a girls night of watching movies and drinking wine.

And Teesha loves to run! This was at the Special Kids race last year, a race that she has a great passion for. She does multiple races throughout the year, most of them raising money for a good cause or running in honor of a loved one.

Teesha loves to be outdoors. She goes White Water rafting and canoeing each summer. She loves to travel and take trips. She also loves low-key trips to the beautiful Gatlinburg. She is so much fun to be around and travel with.

Teesha's perfect guy would be a tall, handsome guy that shares her values and loves to go out for an exciting date, but also a quiet night in. She is looking for a guy that is fun to be around and will get along with all of her crazy friends. He would be laid back, yet strong-minded. He would have a relationship with God and be family oriented.
If you are interested in a beautiful, fun-loving, Christian, all-around wonderful person to be around, Teesha is the perfect girl. Please leave me a comment with your email address and I will make sure that she gets in contact with you.
**And any girls that read this, if you know that a guy that might interested, please let me know. I will be happy to send you her email address ;)

Enjoying the (Brief) Nice Weather

Last weekend on Saturday, it was gorgeous outside.

So Abby and I headed to the local park. She wanted to ride her scooter to the park, but since we live at the top of a giant hill and this was her first time I figured that was not a great idea.  We drove there instead.

All geared up in her new helmet and knee/elbow pads.

She had a blast, even though it was short lived.

But she did get a few good turns around the park. Girl was concentrating!

She did so good on her scooter!

See that rock wall in the background. I usually help her with it, but she insisted that since she was 4 now, she could do it on her own. Pretty sure she fell off of it, while other parents glared at me.

This weekend, after being sent home from school on Friday with a high temp, she was diagnosed with the flu. I was told that she was the most rambunctious "flu" kid seen lately. She was much better by Sunday, but stayed home Monday just in case.

Here's to hoping that she is the only one in the house that gets it!

Book Club Friday

Book Club Friday!

Bright Lights, Big Ass by Jen Lancaster

Jen Lancaster hates to burst your happy little bubble, but life in the big city isn't all it's cracked up to be. Contrary to what you see on TV and in the movies, most urbanites aren't party-hopping in slinky dresses and strappy stilettos. But lucky for us, Lancaster knows how to make the life of the lower crust mercilessly funny and infinitely entertaining.

Whether she's reporting rude neighbors to Homeland Security, harboring a crush on her grocery store clerk, or fighting-and losing-the Battle of the Stairmaster- Lancaster explores how silly, strange, and not-so-fabulous real city living can be. And if anyone doesn't like it, they can kiss her big, fat, pink, puffy down parka.

I am currently obsessed with Jen Lancaster. See last post. I may not be a big city gal, but I cracked up at her stories about her neighbors. Who doesn't have an odd neighbor? In this book, she has written her first book, but contrary to popular belief is not a millionaire. So she works temp jobs, which are fabulous. I also have to add she has a ton of * in her work and then notes at the bottom of the page. I don't normally like this (switching back and forth), but she is so DURN funny that her notes at the bottom are actually my favorite. I just started my third one tonight and am totally hooked.

I Hate Everyone...Starting with Me by Joan Rivers

Joan Rivers is a groundbreaking, award-winning, internationally renowned entertainment goddess. She’s also opinionated—especially when it comes to people she hates. Like people who think giving birth is a unique achievement. Or well-adjusted, a.k.a. boring, ex-child stars who don’t even have a decent addiction.

With all of her diverse experiences, it stands to reason that Joan has seen, done, said, and heard a lot of hateful things. Thank god, she took notes.
Here—uncensored and totally uninhibited—she give the best of her worst to First Ladies, closet cases, hypocrites, Hollywood, feminists, and overrated historical figures. And even when letting herself have it, Joan doesn’t hold back in this honest, unabashedly hilarious love letter to the hater in all of us.

Wow. I am pretty thick-skinned. And I realize that Joan is a comedian. I love Fashion Police, especially after the awards show. BUT, this book was brutal. And just annoying. She is mean to everyone - young/old, skinny/fat, celebrity/non-celebrity. It got the point that all I could think was "I would hate to be this bitter." I realize that she is just trying to be funny, but enough is enough. For her to put it all down in one book was way too much for me. I read this book off and on for about a week. Then got my new Jen Lancaster (see above) and immediately traded bitch-ness for good old fashioned humor. When I googled Joan to get this summary and picture, I was shocked at the amount of books she has written. I hated this book and won't read another!

Wordless Wednesday

Abby took a ton of pictures on my phone this week. Random shots of her toys, a few self portraits....

And then this gem.

Frustration at the Iphone!

4 Has Started out with a Punch!

Last weekend started out with a cough from Abby. She had her 4 Year Well-Visit on Monday, so I figured we would find out then.

33 Pounds
39 3/4 inches tall
100.1 temp
And a diagnosis of an awesome kid, but with viral croup. Wonderful!

She had a great outlook, but I knew she wasn't feeling great.

She also had what I thought was pink-eye, but they said it was just a side effect of the croup and could possibly jump from eye to eye. And it did.

The Doc gave her a steroid to take....and it was brutal. Brutally gross (trust me, I smelled it). She bawled her eyes out, begging not to take it.

She stayed out of school on Tuesday and Wednesday night threw a fit at church until they had to come and get me to put her in my classroom.

The rest of the week was pretty uneventful until I picked her up at school on Friday.

My sweet, precious baby had a black eye!

Apparently there was an incident early in the day that involved a few kiddos all running into each other.

Look, shit happens. Kids are kids (does anyone remember the great tooth break of '10?).

This morning. I am dreading what it looks like tomorrow.

*I am been so reluctant to take her anywhere today as I don't want people to think I hit my little gal!

**Again...shit happens. But, Momma Bear will be taking care of this with a phone call on Tuesday.

Hit or Miss?

Back by Popular Demand is my review of the Globes fashion.

Check out 2011 - HERE and 2010 - HERE.

*Disclaimer - I am in no way a fashionista. My idea of fashion is yoga pants and a 5K race t-shirt (Hey, I earned that shirt coming at under an hour!). And I'm too lazy tonight to even learn (or spell) some of these people's name. We will just call them all "She".

But here we go!

Best Dressed:

Claire Danes - Hands Down, Best Dressed. The hair and makeup are an A+. And she just had a freakin' baby. Girl rocked the dress and the color.

Refer to any of my other lists and you know I adore Heidi. Her stylist rocks at life. Seal must be sad.

I might be biased on this one as I love Nashville. I think she always looks fresh and her age. A little wedding-dressy, but she pulled it off.

Adores! She has really come along way in her fashion. This was a great choice and she is going to go a long way. Both in her career and working the carpet.

I am really loving the colors that popped on the carpet. I think this dress worked really well with the necklace and mermaid, but with a twist, bottom of the dress.

I actually surprised myself with this like. But I think it worked for Julia. I can't even really explain this one, but I just really liked it.

She is adorable. Like want to put her in your purse cute. I think it is great that she plays a teenager on tv, but really brought some adult style to the red carpet.

Again, loving the color. Overall, she is annoying to me (other than the can-watch-it-a-hundred-times-and-still-laugh Elf), but I thought she did great with her choice.

Tina has come a LONG way on the red carpet. Alone, she might not have made the best dressed (but not worse dressed either), but since she brought along her BFF and for some reason I think they coordinated their look, she made it to the best dressed.I thought they looked cool as crap.

This was not her night to shine (since she seems to win every award known to man for music, but I can't even touch that one). I did like the color, the adult hair and makeup. She might just stick around.

A little frumpy, but hell, she has Sofia to compete with. Color was great. I like the shoes and perfect amount of skin (speaking of, I bet there was a LOT of body glue used tonight) showing.

Same look, different day. BUT - it works for her. She has the curves and the voice that transcends time. She might have gotten my vote solely for the comment "My girlfriend and I are pissing ourselves tonight" I love the British.

Not the best picture, but this dress was really pretty on the screen. Plus, I just love her.

Dress, Ok. Arm Candy, A+++.

She was one of the first that I saw on the Glam Cam. Although not that famous in my head, this dress was pretty awesome.

Worst Dressed:

You are old. Embrace it. Yes, I know your boyfriend is 13. But you are a momma. At least try to hide your lady parts.

You embraced old. Maybe you and J-Lo should talk and come to a compromise.

I like her. I do. And I realize that red hair is hard to match. But she should have tried harder. And used some boob tape to put those babies up.

Pregnancy is not an excuse for the neckline. You look like a linebacker. Take notes from the 1 million other pregnant women and find a better dress. Hell, I own a cuter pregnancy dress.

I almost fell off the couch when this one popped up. YOU ARE NOT FAMOUS. And you picked an ugly dress. GO AWAY. (Ali from The Bachelor in case you didn't know - and burn that from your memory)

Anna, Banana, Fo-Fana. Sorry, that brought back flashbacks to elementary school.

Horrible, horrible color.

She could not be my roommate. She just looks possessed. And can I please get a WTF on the circles on the chest (more to come)?

Love her. Total fail on the flesh on flesh dress though. Us pale girls know better. And no, the old Hollywood hair didn't "fix" it.

So very sad. I love Anne. What a plain, boring dress. Great hair, great speech. But girl, the wedding was over.

Sorry, your arm candy didn't save you. I hate crazy, shiny things.

I hope you find love, I do. Desperate Housewives was one of my favorite shows. But keep your leg in check until you land another hot role. Don't be the slut on the red carpet.

My eyes, My eyes! Can you see me reflected off the screen? I hate to say it, but if you wear something that tight, invest in some spanks.

Yea, I'll catch flack for this one. But I hated the circle in the middle of all the dresses. Real women have boobies.

We watched the Bourne Identity Friday night. I love Rachel, she was awesome in this movie. But this dress....oh hell no. I think if she had left the bottom veil-thing off, she might have been ok. But, I hate this dress.

This dress would not have even made either list if not for the random ab-cutout. It was so freaking random. Her and Will's commentary was the best of the night, but I hate this dress.

If I didn't know who this was, I would say, "Wow, what a classic lady". Goodness, she looks old. She made worst dressed because she just looks so.....old. She is beautiful, but I expect more out of her.

Maybe she is so "fashion-forward" and I am "fashion-backward". But I hated this dress. Now....when I am picking out Abby's dress for her upcoming flower girl appearance, this will be an option. Other than, just no.

*I'm still watching the globes. But....I hate Sacha Baron something, Tarantino is drunk, and how the f did CA hire a governor that after COUNTLESS years in the US can't learn the language. I'm just saying.

****So......what do you think? Agree? Disagree? Who did I miss? ****

Need to Catch Up!

Wow! It has been a really long time since I blogged. Blogging can be like exercise and church, you have to stay in the habit of it. I am headed back to church in the morning, exercise will probably not happen right now, but blogging will come!

*On a side note, after a year of preparation, countless hours of interviews, and many, many sleepless nights....I got a fantastic promotion at work! That is awesome for me, but it will also mean many working nights just trying to stay caught up. So bear with me.

I have many pictures since our Disney trip, here is a recap of what has been going on.

Playdate with Caden decorating cookies for Santa.

Abby loves her some crafts, so this was right up her alley.

Caden's little bro Lawson getting in on the action.

Christmas at the Staples.

Abby opening presents. This little gal is so blessed.

Playing Santa

Christmas morning opening her stocking.

I took no pictures, but Santa brought Abby a Jesus Bible, a guitar, and a Princess mouse and mouse pad. She loves to play games on our computers!

Abby made her first Papa Murphy's Pizza. I called it a Mini Pizza. She thought it was a Minnie (mouse) pizza. She was a little disappointed!

But she still had fun making (and eating) it.

Working a puzzle of the Map of the US.

That reminds me....Santa "dropped" a present in the yard! That silly Santa! Abby got a very cold Minnie Mouse table Christmas Day night.

New Years Eve was a great night at home with friends coming over. Abby was loving her buddy Casey and Spencer coming to hang out.

Those silly kids.

Then it was time for a birthday party!

How fantastic are these cookies that a co-worker made for me?

Some Minnie balloons on the mantel.

This picture doesn't do it justice, but I was pretty stinkin' proud of my Minnie cake!

Getting ready for the party. I set up a coloring station for the kiddos to color Minnie pics.

Abby and Gammy coloring.

Poppa and Abby before the party. Poor Nina was sick and couldn't make it.

Lots of people in the house. We are so blessed!

A walking puppy!

Paper dolls!

Scrapbook kit!

We were so blessed to have many friends and family come and celebrate Abby's 4th birthday.

But my heart did sink when Abby asked "Can my school friends come?", so next year we will be incorporating more of her friends from school.

The next day, on her actual birthday she had presents awaiting her from us.

New Minnie Mouse underwear!

Princess Shoes!

Ballet slippers!

And a Minnie Mouse plate set.

So....this was my recap from the past few weeks. I know I should have taken more pics, but it didn't happen.

Abby is fully on board to being 4 and will tell anyone around her that she is four (and that Mommy is "dirty-one"). She constantly tells me all the things that she can do now that she is 4. She is taller (according to her), she eats better (because she is all grown up) and repeats everything we say (which can be scary).

Her 4 year well visit is on Monday, so I hope to post her stats here.

4 is going to be a great year!
