Oatmeal!!

Abby is eating oatmeal from a spoon (kinda!). It is absolutely hilarious to watch. Her first few tries, it came right back out. Now, she is used to it and out of about 10 spoonfuls, eats about 2.....maybe. A little practice will make perfect though. When we do decide to go to solids, we are hoping she will be ready.

More of it on her face then in the mouth.

Perplexed!

Another good shot of all the food everywhere!

Stuart and Abby outside the restaurant we went to Saturday night. In her fishy dress!

Sunday morning we woke up and Abby was burning up! Stuart took her temperature under her arm and it was 101.5. I immediately throw on jeans and am ready to go to the emergency room. Stuart (the calmer of us) convinces me to call the advice nurse. I had no idea they worked on Sundays. I call and she makes me an appointment for noon. Abby has been fighting a cold (as have I) for about a week now, poor thing!
The doctor checked her out, her temperature was only 100, so he thinks we might have gotten an inaccurate reading (we did under the arm, he did elsewhere). As a precaution, they wanted a clean urine sample. I couldnt even watch, luckily Stuart is better at those sort of things than I am....Im extremely squeamish! Then we went for chest x-rays (again, a precaution), Stuart was carrying her so he stayed in the x-ray room with her. It was so incredibly hard to be waiting outside the intimidating x-ray room hearing my baby crying. I almost tore the door down. But her chest was clear, so we are just giving her some tylenol to make her feel a little better. It is the hardest thing I have ever done to watch my little baby be sick!
Here's to hoping she gets well soon!

Stuart's racing weekend

While I was In Tennessee visiting family, Stuart went to the races in Charlotte. He took the camera and although he took many pics of the race, not one of him and his friends! Men!!

Here was his seat on the first day...bet it was loud!
Seat on the second day (before the rain came and cancelled the race).

Trip to Tennessee

Abby and I flew home for Memorial Day weekend while Stuart went to the Charlotte Nascar race (that was rained out twice!). For a seasoned blogger like myself, I actually forgot my camera! So here are pictures that I have managed to "steal" from other people's sites. If you have any pictures of my visit, feel free to email them to me...

Abby LOVES her cousin Chris. She kept trying to hug and kiss on him!

Trying to hold the Bottle

Abby loves to hold her bottle. She has not quite mastered it on her own yet, but she sure does try.

Cherry Point Air Show

Stuart, I, Abby, Auntie Justine and Uncle Steve all went to the Air show at Cherry Point today. It was hot, but not too bad. Of course, Mommy got burnt (no surprise). Abby seemed to really enjoy it, although it did start sprinkling on us.

Having a blast in her hat to shade the sun.

There was an Osprey at the Air show, like what Stuart rode in Iraq.

Abby's New Chair

I have heard about the Bumpo chairs that help babies learn to sit up. I also thought this would be a good place for her to sit when we do decide to start giving her food. In a previous post, I said that we could start feeding her fruits and veggies, but we have decided to wait about 6 more weeks until she is 6 months old. But I wanted to at least get her comfortable with the chair.

The "Loving it" face

The "Whoa Whoa Whoa" face

As you can see in the span of five minutes, she has an extreme range of emotions.

Good morning!!

Abby had a WONDERFUL night last night. For the past week, she has been getting up every three hours just absolutely starving. I read that it was just a growth spurt and would pass (thank goodness).

Last night, she went to bed at 7:45, about 3:45 I woke up realizing that I had not heard from her. So I immediately run into her room and check on her. She is fine, just sleeping away. About 4:30 she woke up, I fed her and she went right back to sleep.

I was able to get up this morning, get completely ready, get packed for day care and she slept the whole time. These are the pictures from when I went to finally get her up!

Big Stretch!!

Stop taking pictures!

Riley's First Birthday

Abby's friend Riley turned one this weekend. We had a birthday party for her Saturday night.

Eyeing that cake!

Delicious!

Wanting cake, but as you can see from the picture, just got done spitting up her bottle!

This is also my first Mother's Day! Stuart sent tulips (my favorite) to work on Thursday. We are headed to church this morning, then Olive Garden for dinner.

Tummy Time

One of the things that the doctor recommended was more tummy time for Abby. This will help with her neck strength for eating and just generally focusing in general. I took some really cute pictures of her practicing today.

Loves to eat toys!

Notice in the background who else is enjoying tummy time!

4 Month Checkup

Abby went for her 4 month check up today. She is weighing in at 13.2 pounds and is 25 inches long. That is in the 50th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height. The doctor said that she is growing great and has reached all of the milestones that she needs to. For example, able to follow people around the room, roll over, and make good facial expressions. He recommended more tummy time and just to generally speak to her as much as possible so that she will learn more sounds.

He also said that we could start to introduce pureed fruits and vegetables. We can introduce one a week so in case she has an allergy to one of them, we will know which one. This is very exciting! I cant wait to go to Babies R Us this weekend and get some small bowls and spoons. It is hard to believe that she can start eating "real" food now. Of course, I always said that I would try any food when she did, so this should be interesting. Ill keep everyone updated.

She also got more shots today. Last time, Stuart held her while I looked away. This time, I thought Stuart wasnt going to be able to make it, so I was really dreading it. But he showed up just in the nick of time! He still held her, but I actually watched this time. It was really bad! Last time, she cried really hard and then crashed for about 3 hours. This time, she cried for about 10 minutes and is now up and playing. Guess she is getting used to them, although I am not!

Another Trip to the Aquarium

Our friend, Mike, turned 30 yesterday. For his birthday we drove to Fort Fisher and went to the other aquarium. Then went to Wilmington out to eat and shopping.

Here are some of Abby's thoughts as we go through the Aquarium!

I'm not so sure about this....but it is not moving so I should be ok!

Whoa!! Now this one is lookin at me!

Jellyfish are gross! I'll have to remember to stay away from those when I go to the beach.

One more photo op in front of the Aquarium.
