My Favorite Part of the Day

Here is a typical day:
Wake up at 5:30 and out the door by 6:30.
Abby sleeps until 8ish so I don't get to see her in the morning.
Work 7-5
Abby and Stu meet me at work at 5. Abby is fascinated with my push pins. She loves to take them out of my cubicle and rearrange them. Every day.
Usually get home around 5:30 or 6. Sometimes later if I have errands to run.
Eat dinner.
Give Abs her bath.
Play (i.e. color or slide on the couch cushions).
Then it is on to reading. We read the same 3 books every night. The Shape of Me, ABC's and numbers. After that, I turn on the mobile and turn off the lights. Then....we rock.
We rock and we talk. Recently, we have started praying. We pray for all of our family members, Daddy, Ali, Poppa, NeeNa, Gammy, Puppy (Daisy), Buddy, Evan, JD, Jess, Manda (I know there are more family members, but those are the ones that are most familiar to her). We tell each other that we love each other. We tell each other Good Night.
She is just the sweetest thing in the world then. No matter how mad I get at her, that is our special time. It may only be 15 minutes, but it makes everything in my day melt away. All I do is love on my baby.
**************
On Saturday, I told Abby that we were going to church in the morning. Her normal response is "See Manda?". My BFF always meets us at church and Abs just loves her.
That night as we were having our "talk", I said, "I love you Abby". She so sweetly turned to me and said "See Manda?"
At least I know where I stand, lol.
**************
Please keep this baby in your prayers. This is a former co-worker from VA. We were actually pregnant at the same time.
They just found out that their son has a brain tumor and the dad will be moving to TN (St. Jude's) with the son while mom stays with the older daughter.
If you have facebook, please "like" and show them support.
I can't begin to imagine what a family is going through to have to deal with something like this.
**************
Also......I have mentioned on here about a few friends of mine that are pregnant. The count is up to three! All due within a month of each other. All of these girls are close friends of mine and I am so happy for all of them. Please pray that all of them have healthy (morning sickness free!) pregnancies!

Party Time

We went to Colt's 2nd birthday party this weekend. It was at a jump house in Cool Springs.
I am really not sure who enjoyed it more....Abby or Stu!
Daddy helping Abby climb up the slide.

Getting ready to go down the big slide!

She was in heaven.

Abby also got to play with her boyfriend, Landon.

I didn't get any pictures of the birthday boy (I only saw him in a blur, running by!).
But I did snap this picture of his cake. I am sure Heather will post a much better picture soon. The cake was gorgeous though and delicious as well.

Abby was loving it!
I tried to snap a picture of her eating it, but I caught her mid-sneeze!

Do you see the scratches? Poor Abby apparently slid down something wrong. Stu didn't even know when she did it. It doesn't seem to bother her though. Tough cookie!

What Momma's Reading

I have been really enjoying my Nook. I did have to hit the library this weekend though. I just can't afford my habit!
This is a quick, easy read. If you haven't heard anything about it - it is about a little boy that "dies" on the operating table and goes to Heaven. It is written by his father, a preacher. I wasn't sure that I would like it, but I really did. Some of the stories that he tells are just amazing. It really makes you think about the place you go when you die.

I am about two-thirds of the way through this one. I am not a political person by any means. I am also not a huge George fan. But this book is an interesting story about the behind the scenes of some of the major decisions that he made. At 500+ pages on the Nook, it is kicking my butt. But I am looking at George in a new light.

I am not sure what I was expecting of this one, but it is more "scientific" on the study of girls. I really enjoy the anecdotes of how the toy industry influences generations of women (and occasionally men). And the history of dolls and how they were created (i.e. Barbie, American Girl) is truly fascinating.

This is next on my list. I think this has been on every best seller list out there. I borrowed it from the library, just in case. If you have read it, what are your thoughts?

Randoms:

  • Church: I am still going to the "big" church. It is very hard to switch when all my friends go to the same church. And I watch the kiddos once a month as well. There is a sermon coming up that I think will have an influence on my ultimate decision.
  • Weight: Ahhhh...not so well. I have been eating healthier and trying to work out some. Weighing in this morning, I have lost 2 pounds. Slowly but surely hopefully!
  • My friend's dad passed away last night. He battled cancer for 12 years. He left Earth surrounded by his family. My heart hurts for her, so please keep her in your prayers.

Summertime!

Well maybe not yet, but we are sure feeling it!

Abby loves her sunglasses and wants to wear them all night.

And boy, was she riding through the house like a mad woman.

After bath, since our apartment is freaking 73 degrees, I thought it would be nice for Abby to wear shorts to bed.

I told Abby that I wanted to take her picture and she screamed "No" and hid.

But when I told her that I wanted to take a picture of her and Ali, she was really excited. I knew that Ali was only interested in her bone and wouldn't mind.

I call this her "serious pose".

Eventually she started messing with Ali.

Finally! Some loving.
Abby and I worked on Yoga before bed. I didn't get a great picture, but she was rocking downward facing dog!

Hits and Misses

****I am watching the Fashion Police and I had made all my decisions about what I liked and hated last night. I am not changing my opinion at all....but be warned that I am not a fashionista and am pretty much the opposite of the professionals. *****
*********
Let's talk about the elephant, er, egg in the room.

You just really never know what to expect with GaGa. I am (for once) giving her props on originality.
And her performance was amazing. I actually read today that GaGa was "lame" in her performance, but I really enjoyed it. Maybe I am not a monster and liked the lamer version. Her voice is amazing and if you missed the horns, google it.
*********
Now, on to the hits!
I think Martina is beautiful. This dress is classy black with a little bit of fun.

I also love some Miranda. A little bit of a boring dress, but she rocked it.

I watched the Countdown to the Red Carpet that Kelly O. hosted. I loved this dress. I loved the ruffles and the length.

Too sweet! She looked elegant and classy.

Katy got alot of flack for this dress. But I thought the wings were original. And the girl is very well blessed and can sometimes look class-less when she shows off the girls. I thought she covered them well and picked a fantastic dress.

I would truly kill for those legs. One hot mama!

I didn't even recognize her at first. Lady A looked stunning.

Tony who? Gorgeous.
*************
And.....on to the misses.....
Heidi, I really thought that you could do no wrong. You are a freaking supermodel. And your legs are insured. Rock them and please, just stand up straight (or it might just be the dress).

I am a huge Keeping up with the Kardashians fan. But this dress was just skank. And lord have mercy, the back looked like she was pregnant in the butt.

Please find her a cracker.
I guess stealing a husband might cause you stress and cause you not to eat.
Just nasty.
What are you doing with your hair? If I was this designer, I would be pissed that you hid half the dress with your unbrushed extensions.

Wow. Just wow. I don't even know who this is, but leopard is only fun in moderation.

In my mind, always a failure. It looks like carpet.

Did you run out of money for fabric? Fashion Police said it looked like toilet paper, I tend to agree.

I hated the shoulder pads on Anne Hathaway. Still hate them here.

Can't wait until the Oscars!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!

Just to clarify, Abby goes to Mother's Day Out two days a week for 5 hours. She is not in full time day care. The few people that read my blog (and their kids go to day care) said they did not do anything for their kids V-day parties. I am not sure if that makes a difference.....but I am really, really grateful that I made a snack.

See below......

Fudge, two boxes of cookies (I think leftovers from the party), and bubbles.

Three goodie bags

Contents of the goody bags.

A heart shaped cookie with her name on it.
*********
I feel absolutely horrible, but I didn't know the teacher's names. They sent her home with a goody bag and a sweet, sweet book about God (she goes to MDO at a church). I did send them a Rice Krispie treat though. Luckily, Teacher Appreciation Week is next month, so I can make it up to them.

Adorable artwork for the day.

And I came home to this!!! Beautiful roses and sunflowers!

And the sweetest Valentine ever!

Such a Long Sunday

I noticed on Saturday that Abby was not feeling so great. She had a little bit of a raspy voice. Saturday night, she barked all night in her sleep. I gave her some medicine and turned the humidifier on in her room.
***********
Sunday morning, when she woke up, she was hot. I took her temperature and it was 99.1. Not high, but I still wanted to call the doctor. Quickly found out that our pediatrician office is not open on the weekends (wtf?).
Found another pediatrician that was open on the weekends and they luckily agreed to see her. Pretty sure that we will be changing pediatricians.
In the meantime, Abby sat on the couch and watched Mickey Mouse and ate cheese.

I got her dressed in a shirt, skirt and hose. When I went to get dressed, she "completed" the outfit. I just bought her these Crocs - she loves them! And wants to wear them every day. I was able to convince her to put on boots. But the hat was non-negotiable. For someone that hates bows and headbands, she loves this hat! I think I bought it at a yard sale right after she was born for about $0.50
*********************
In the end - she has croup. She has had it before, so I was not that worried. And the doctor said that she is perfectly fine to attend MDO tomorrow since she really doesn't have a fever.
*******************
I took her to Baskin Robbins after the appointment. She has really only had ice cream maybe twice in her life. But I thought she would enjoy it. Not only was she not having any of the ice cream (with gummy bears)......she attracted a very strange lady.
This woman (who was with three other kids) took it upon herself to come and sit at our table and try and spoon feed my child. I am not joking. I really was just in so much shock that I didn't know what to do. Then this lady starts telling me that one of the kids is her granddaughter that she is "forced to raise" and the other two are neighbors. Then starts crying about how she had to put her "first baby - her fur baby" to sleep yesterday and that she will never get over it. Even gets out her phone to show me pictures of said dog. Don't get me wrong, I love my dog. But I don't see myself showing pictures of her to strangers.
Luckily, the lady left, but not after telling me how precious Abby was and reminding me how I need to cherish every moment with her. The whole thing just freaked me out.
***************
A conversation with 4 friends on Friday night.
  • Me: Abby has 7 boys in her class, I went and bought Mickey Mouse valentines for them. Wish I could have bought Princesses.
  • Them (6 kids between them - Abby is the youngest): And what else?
  • Me: What do you mean what else?
  • Them: Uhh...you need to make them something.
  • Me: Like what? I am taking Pringles to the party.
  • Them: OOOOHHHH girl......
  • Me: What? You are freaking me out....
  • Them: Oh Honey, you have to make the kids something. Like homemade cookies, or a gift bag. Or maybe even homemade candy.
  • Me: But they are two!!! They don't need all that junk. This is madness.
  • Them: Yes, but everyone does it. You are TOTALLY going to be "that mom" if you don't make each kid something. Abby is going to come home with tons of candy and homemade food. And stickers. And pencils. And just all kinds of crap. But that is what everyone does.
  • Me: You have seriously got to be kidding me.

***************

So, of course, I had to make something.

I made Rice Krispie treats with a heart on them.

Unfortunately, putting them in a bag smeared the icing.

But hopefully, it will be enough to keep Abby in the "cool circle". LOL - at 2!
And even if they are all wrong about having to make something, maybe I will be the best mommy!
***********
Now, I'm going to finish watching the Grammy's. I will have my reviews up tomorrow. They will be egg-cellent!
