Our Strong Girl

I received a call yesterday around 5 from day care that Abby had a fever of 102.

We brought her home and she sounded like Donald Duck. Really scratchy throat, runny nose, coughing. It was sad.

I gave her some Advil to reduce the fever and she seemed to feel a little better before bed, but I knew she wasn't allowed back at day care (they have a fever free for 24 hours policy).

She crawled in my bed at 6:30 this morning and was hot to the touch! Her temp was about 101.4. More Advil, calls to the nurse, more medicine.

Later this afternoon, I tested her again and she was 100.6. We are getting there. I am staying home with her again tomorrow.

Here is my little angel showing how "strong" she is.

Sick or not, she is hanging in there!

On another note, when we buy meat we normally eat it immediately or freeze it. And when we freeze it, as soon as it is unthawed, we eat it.

Tonight I made oven baked chicken (Ok, I didn't technically make it, but I did lay everything out for Stu to make it). I bought it on Sunday and the expiration date was 10/23.

Stu and I both have upset stomachs (Abby only ate a few bites). I swear that if we do not eat the meat immediately after buying it, it makes us sick.

Does anyone else have this problem? Am I crazy??

Letters

We finished Abby's letters today!

Basically I took her pink letters (Seen at the bottom here) and spray painted them completely white, then let Abby get creative.

She took the leftover paint from her room and painted them in 2-year old fashion.

I let that dry and then today, let her paint back over them with white. I blotted that with a paper towel.

These pictures don't really do them justice, but I love them.

Personally, I think they look "antique-y" or at least my version of that.

*****************

I have been dreading today. After hearing that Abby might need a filling, I was so nervous about taking her to the dentist. That and just generally taking her to the dentist. She does much better with Stu than with me :).

Girl was an angel! She sat on the table by herself (holding my hands of course), let the doctor look at all of her teeth. Side note, he called every one of her teeth by a Disney Princess. Best.idea.ever.

Then they decided to take x-rays. She sat in the chair all by herself (again holding my hand....the asst asked if there was a chance I was pregnant....haha...no). Abby was amazing!

Luckily, this doctor said that it did look like she had stains from the trauma to the tooth, but it was not necessary to do a filling.

We will go back in 6 months for a cleaning!

*************

I heard Abby crying tonight about an hour after she fell asleep. We both have a little "hay fever" which I attribute to being on a farm all day yesterday (Get it? Hay? Haha....I am here all night).

I go in her room to check on her and she is laying face down in the middle of the room.

She fell out of the bed! I snuggled her for a bit, while she croaked at me.

Hopefully, she feels better tomorrow!

Fall Weather = Fun Times

I love Fall Weather!

I love pumpkins, wearing jackets, and just getting to spend time outside with out burning up!

We started our day off Saturday with a baby shower. I have to laugh at the number of baby showers that I have been to lately. This was the 6th one!

Autumn made the cutest baby pumpkins as decorations.

I really didn't take many pictures since the sweet baby below came with me.

She was just so good! We went to Michael's before and got tons of crafts and she made pictures the whole time.

Of course, we took a cake break!

I found it hilarious that my friends kept saying "She looks so different with her hair up!" as it so rare that she lets me fix her hair.

After the baby shower, I took her to a local school that was having a fall festival. Unfortunately, we arrived too late and they were closing down. But Abby did still get to see some animals.

In this picture, she is pointing at a camel saying "Too Big".

She really thought that little pony was so cute.

Petting a little pony.

I love that she didn't have any fear when petting the animals.

****There were a few sheep that weren't in pins. One of them "charged" her (he was tied up, just not pinned) and she screamed so loud the entire place looked at her. ****

Exploring a see-saw.

She loved having me and Nana push her up and down on that.

Seriously, does she not look just so grown up?

************

Today, we went to church and then Walden Farms.

I was a little nervous, but Abby really wanted a pumpkin on her cheek. So we did our first face-painting!

She was so good!!!

**And yes, she has on a police dept sticker. It is from day care last week.**

She was so proud of that pumpkin! We were meeting friends there and she couldn't wait to show it off.

Next, we did sand art. We bought a duck and Abby had so much fun filling it up. This is her showing it off!

Feeding the goats.

Our friend Casey met us there and Casey's dad Dustin was nice enough to take the kids on the hay bales. Abby loved it!

After a hay ride (no pics), we ended the visit with a hay maze. We told Casey to keep up with Abby, but he totally smoked her and she was on her own. Luckily, she made it out on her own!

To end the day, we painted.

I know I posted weeks ago about re-doing her letters for her room.

My first idea was to yarn them, that didn't work. So I spray-painted them white. Next, my plan was to paint stencils on them. Didn't happen. Finally, I decided that it was Abby's room - Abby could paint them. So tonight, we did some sponge painting and the plan tomorrow we will use a paint brush. I am just ready to be done with this room!

Happy Feet

Yes, I am totally THAT mom that loves to see her baby sleeping.

How can you look at these feet without total love?

That is just an angel sleeping!

****Items in Abby's bed: Red Dog, Puppy, Bunny, a snow globe, Reindeer, 3 books, one magazine, 1 pillow, a pillow pet, a sheet, a blanket and her comforter.***

Just Need to Ramble

We are just so freaking busy (or so it seems) that I can't put an entire post together on just one subject. So stick with me during the ramblin' and I will promise a picture of Abby!

******************

That kitchen that I bought Abby in the last post? Yeah, it has earned it's $10 price tag. I had to DRAG Abby to Target tonight. All she wanted to do was "play kitchen". But we had essentials for day care that I needed to get.

******************

Speaking of day care....Abby right now is so-so on it. She hasn't told me any of her new friends or teachers names and still includes her last sitter in Baby Jesus talks every night (which tells me every person that she loves - it is a long list).

But I am impressed. They are super detail oriented and let her "try" on the toilet about every hour. But it can be alot to keep up with as days have "themes" and I have to remember to pack things for her.

*********************

If you have seen my fb, you know that I ordered a Erin Condren planner about 10 days ago. It should be here Thursday. I am itching for it. Regardless of the notoriety of it, I just really need something to get more organized.

********************

I am currently reading this book. I read the second one months ago and it was pretty much about the preemie baby they had. This one starts at the beginning, I am only about a 1/3 of the way through. But it is super interesting. I recommend it just for the stories and tips.

********************

As most people know, Abby has a broken front tooth. We go to the dentist every 6 months to have it looked at. Stu took her last week and apparently there was talk of "decay" and a follow up appointment was made. I called the dentist yesterday to get more info. The guy that answered the phone was Horrible. I am still mad about it. It ended with me yelling, "Just cancel the appointment".

I called Stu and I's dentist and got a recommendation for a peds dentist. We have an appointment for next week. From what I understand (from the first moron) she may have a cavity, but I am getting a second opinion. I find it hard to believe a filling on a 2 year old is my only option.

Hopefully, we get better care at the new place (the receptionist was awesome and that is always a good indication).

*******************

When Abs was just a baby, her Aunt Cari bought her a 2T Halloween costume. I completely forgot about it last year as it was in storage.

But that means costume this year, right??? Wrong. We tried to put it on her last week and had to CUT it to get her head over it. She loved it (And I will take pics of the reject soon), but it will just not work.

So I am back to square one with the Halloween costume.

*****************

Abby has been very jealous of my weeding gloves. She constantly asks for "gloves for pulling leaves". Tonight in Target, I saw gloves for $1. I snagged these, not realizing they were 4T.

She is loving them though!

*******************

I wanted to add a few more things that Abs does.

"Pick One" - when she gets crazy, I give her 2-3 options and tell her to "Pick One". She now asks me that for everything. At Target tonight, I told her she needed to get a hat for day care tomorrow. She held up the three choices and said "Pick One, Mommy".

"Ask Me" - she constantly wants me to ask her things so she can answer. She has a ton of Look and Find books. She will bring them to me and say, "Mommy, ask me to find whatever it is". Or Mommy, "Ask me what that color is".

Singing - Abby loves to sing and loves for me to sing to her (bless her heart).

**********************

At the end of the day, she is my favorite person to be around and I just laugh constantly when I am with her. The things that she picks up from Stu and I are hilarious.

Weekend Wrap Up

Whew! This has been a busy weekend.

Saturday morning we got up early and hit some yard sales. It is amazing what you find at yard sales.

My favorite find was a kitchen and about 100 pieces of food for $10. Here is all the food soaking in our master bath. Abby was thrilled.

After yard sales, we bought mums and planted them at the mailbox.

It was alot hotter than I expected so we had to take a Popsicle break after.

******************

Sunday.....it was on!

Disney on Ice. 100 Years of Magic.

We bought the tickets weeks ago and I have been so excited to take Abby and see if she would like it.

She was awesome the first act (45 min), but lost a little bit of interest in the second act. She kept asking when Minnie and Mickey were coming back.

(Be Prepared for the Picture Overload - I couldn't resist any of them!)

Waiting on the show to start. She stayed very concerned about that sweater falling.

The stage set with a castle.

I did break down (and break the wallet) and got Abby light up Minnie ears. It was so worth it!

Her and Daddy posing.

Me and Abby waiting on the show to start.

Her favs: Goofy, Mickey and Minnie.

The only time that Abby hid her eyes was when the scary shark from Nemo came out.

She was so enthralled (as was I) with all the princesses!

They brought out all of the "couples" from the movies.

This was Abby's second favorite after Mickey - the Toy Story gang!

OK enough about the show - here is my little ham!

"I'm trying to watch the show Mom"

"I am a dancing queen!"

"Best Day Ever"

"Can you believe I am watching the cartoons, LIVE??"

"I am just resting on the bar."

All in all it was a wonderful time. She has not stopped talking about it since we left.

Although exhausted, I asked her to pose in front of the "Welcome to Nashville" decorations.

She really was so tired and passed out on the ride home.

School starts tomorrow! It is going to be an early morning!

She is a Beauty

Can you see the beauty in this picture?

Besides that adorable blonde of course!!

Yep, we are proud owners of a new fridge. After a week of lukewarm food or using a fridge the size of a gallon of milk, our new fridge arrived today!!

I am loving it!

Abby was so excited that she took her pants off and put my shoes on!

I did have a slight moment of freaking out. I had about 2 inches between the cabinet and the last fridge so I just guessed on the size of this one.

Man.....was I close. Seriously.

Our Little Writer

I have posted in the past a little about Abby loving to write.

Now instead of her just scribbling nonsense...she wants to write names and will say "Tell me who to write Mommy". So I will name everyone and she will "write" their names down.

Except tonight she wanted me to hold the pen too and help her write the names down.

Me trying to get her to pose beside her writing.

Finally, success!!!

********************

I don't know if this is normal, but on the weekends Abby doesn't call out for us anymore. She just gets up and walks through the house to our room. She opens the door and comes to get us out of bed. So far, it works - I am a light sleeper so I normally hear her as soon as she gets to the door.

And during the week, I have to get her out of bed about 6:15.

Well on Monday, I guess she woke when I was getting ready. I had my head flipped over, drying my hair. I flipped back over and BAM - she was standing there.

I screamed so loud, I think I scared her!

(Now, I am constantly checking the door to see if she is coming in to "get" me).

Never a dull moment!

Abby Meets Spencer

Tonight, Abby and I went over to Amanda's to meet baby Spencer.

I haven't even told Abby about him yet, as I knew she would ask me about him every minute of the day.

But I told her in the car on the way over and she was pretty excited to meet baby "Pinser".

Unfortunately, she was not as enthusiastic about taking a picture of the event.

This is about as close as she will get and is just so nervous (note the face pulling).

But later in the night, she did get more brave and wanted to show him a picture that she made him as well as wrapping paper.

He was pretty excited about. Never even woke up.

Gas Station Fun

We went to the gas station tonight and I just wanted to share my story.

First, it was packed (Kroger after work always is). We were three cars deep waiting in line. The lady in front of me (two cars up) gets out of her car, walks around to the back seat and gets her baby out. This little girl was maybe 10 months old. Then she proceeds to run her card and pump gas. After she is done, she puts the pump up and then straps the little girl in the back seat.

Please explain this to me. You are going to be away from your kid for 5 minutes. So not only are you backing up traffic, but you just exposed your kid to gas fumes. I was furious.

(and if for some reason they were traveling and she just wanted to stretch her legs, do that on your own time - not when there are people waiting on you)

****************

So I finally get up to pump gas. All this time, I was gathering trash in my car to throw out.

I run my card and start the pump. Then I throw the trash out (anybody see where this is going??).

As I am pulling out, I realize I can't find my card. So I pull forward so the next person can pump (how considerate of me).

I walk back to the pump and ask the girl pumping gas if my card is sitting on top of the pump.

Well of course not.

I have no shame - I totally went through the gas station trash can.

But.......I got my card.
